Spotlight: The LucStrong Foundation
The LucStrong Foundation was founded by Stacy & Matthew Bodden after the experience of having a child with SCD in the transplant process and the associated financial challenges it effectuates compelled them to help those in need. Sickle Cell Disease affects approximately 100,000 Americans and occurs among about 1 out of every 365 Black or African-American births.
Based on Luc’s wish to celebrate the end of his bone marrow transplant treatment with a kickball game with family and friends, The LucStrong Foundation has honored his memory with an annual kickball event to raise money for families affected by sickle cell disease. This year, COVID-19 forced The LucStrong Foundation to get creative by moving their efforts to social media. Please watch the video below to see how you can be involved to raise awareness and honor the legacy of a brave and inspiring boy whose positivity and thoughtfulness continues to touch lives.

When COVID-19 cancelled The LucStrong Foundation’s annual kickball fundraiser, they took to social media to create the Kick-it Challenge. Raising awareness, funds, and spirits, the Bodden family shares how and why they wanted to help other families in honor of their son, Luc.
